These examples come from a special research study of high resolution MRI scanning of breast cancer patients, and post-processing the images with Virtual Dissection. This was research work I did in 2004.
Normal case.
Large abnormal node on right side.
Look closely and you can see lymphatic ducts. They have a beaded appearance.
Normal on the right. Scarring on the left from axillary lymph node dissection surgery.
Here are several different cases that are Normal on both sides.
This one is very abnormal on the left. Normal in the right axilla.
Normal on the right. Post surgical scarring on the left.
Scarring on the right. Normal on the left. But there is a lot of right supraclavicular lymphadenopathy.
And it’s hot on PET. And the 2nd PET showed something becoming hot in the right axilla.
And got a little smaller after treatment, and the scarring got thicker.
Back to normal cases on both sides.
Normal on right. Scarring on left.
Abnormal node in right axilla. normal left.
Normal on right. Scarring on left, and one enlarged node very high near left clavicle.
Normal on both sides.
Normal on the right axilla. Left axilla has scarring and nodal recurrence.
Post surgical scarring on right. Normal on left.
